Question for the nerds

I need a good program that can regulate the bandwidth on my network. Lately Ive been having 900+ ping and couldnt figure it out. My other roommates were having the same problem. I shut off the wireless, only one of my roommates is on wireless, and we had our pings go back to normal. So in other words the 3 gamers want the 1 other to have slower internet so we can still play. Any ideas on a program or do I have to shut wireless off and pretend Im not home when I want to play video games?

just tell that slut to limit his download/upload speeds with limewire/torrents/whatever...

there is no need to not have your upload speed capped at like 20...

other than that... you could block the ports he's using to download/upload so much crap, I bet he'd like that.

odds are you have more than just that 1 person hopping on, if you want to give him wireless, you get his mac address (the router itself should grab that information and you can find it, and only allow that mac address to connect wirelessly)

if you have a linksys router i can tell you the exact steps, if not, read instructions

if the problem continues after you do this, then it is definatly the person who is wireless's fault, since hes downloading or uploading at too high of a speed causing your lag. as cupacabra said, you can limit your speeds in the programs themselves.
