I want to get everyones view on this new Zune HD... I think i might want to

get one but is it worth selling my ipod touch 8GB for this 32GB Zune?

I'm tempted to get one or the other... The Zune HD will have a better DAC chip in it, while the Touch will have free games and applications via jailbreaking... On the other hand, Sony's new X series DAP intrigues me.

Apple for some reason started going cheapo on their DACs a few years back and no one has any idea why-- Oh wait, because it was cheaper.

On the other hand, MS did the same going from the 30GB Zune to the 80GB although they're righting their wrongs with the HD.

It's all about Cowon and iRiver, baby! Those Koreans know how to make quality DAPs.

Meh, I enjoy my iTouch. I've never had any problem with it, and it's even 1st Generation. I got it like a week after it hit the market. And not a SINGLE problem with it. I've jailbroken it and restored it many times, still no problem. I enjoy my 16gig of space. I've filled probably about 8-9gig, thats about 1500 songs, and 2 pages of games, not counting the other random apps. So I could still fit about, 1500 more songs lol. Who really needs 32gig for a product designed for music? Who honestly knows every single song that would fit on that product. There's no way you know 10,000 + songs.

105GB of music here-- not including CDs I've been too lazy to rip.

A good portion of it is in FLAC and, sadly, the Zunes and iPods don't support it. No way in hell I'm converting all that crap to WMA or ALAC.

You are out of your fucking mind. If you've seen zune's software it's so much better than iTunes. The problem is everyone started using iTunes because WMP was so fucking bad. Not to mention the zune pass is a pretty decent deal if you commit to it monthly. I ended up just deciding to torrent, but that's me.

I think you're just trolling. But i will also say this about the POS company; Everything apple releases first gen is usually flawless.

And anyone who knows anything about iPods (i went though 12 in one year, not over exaggerated, you begin to count after 3...) They can tell you that HDD placement = fail. Only reason iPod touch stood a chance is because the just took the phone portion out of the iPhone. If they kept it in the same shell, GG.

I'm just sad that all these companies are switching to touch screen; I love being able to change songs and adjust volume from my pocket. That's one of the largest issues I have with switching to one of the touch screen DAPs.

I need a new DAP considering that my first gen Zune has widdled its battery life down to about four hours, so I'm going to be deciding which shall prevail; the iTouch, Zune HD, Cowon S9 or the Sony X1050.

Desktop/Icon based operating systems? Done before them.

DAPs? Done before them.

Touch screen interfaces on DAPs? Done before them.

Computers built into the backs of monitors? Done before them.

Media players with online stores built into them? Done before them.

Devices that allow wireless syncing of audio devices in a household? Done before them.

Marketing to preteens? Done before them.

Mailing me sandwiches for every product sold? Not done by any company... I really hope one starts doing that soon.

Like West said, most of what Apple has done as a company has been popularizing ideas that other companies have had and backing it up with their massive wallet and targeted marketing toward younger folk. Microsoft has done a lot of the same shit, but at least they don't manufacture all their products in pristine white that fades to piss-stained-underwear yellow. That's right, I went there.

In conclusion, Apple is a company that makes me want to punch orphans in the face on Christmas. While Microsoft has released many similar products to compete directly with Apple, I'll at least back them up for not doing it in an overly flamboyant and incredibly annoying manner such as the long running iPod silhouette commercials and the "I'm a Mac" horseshit with Justin Long... Until I saw the Microsoft "I'm a PC and I'm 4 years old" crap, but for the most part I view that commercial and think to myself "Awww, that little girl thinks she's a computer!" and I giggle to myself quietly.
